As a long standing business, it's the job of Wooler Wool Shop to ensure that the local community thrives. Here's how we make that happen.

Groups and workshops

Here at the Wooler Wool Shop, we are proud to offer community knitting and sewing groups. We offer workshops for anyone that might be new to the hobby and would like a friendly, welcoming environment to get started in or more experienced knitters who enjoy a fun day out with other like-minded people.

LEARN TO KNIT GROUP

I am looking to run a Learn to Knit Group, starting mid-August, it will be on Thursday evenings for 4 weeks. £60 inc materials. Please get in touch if you are interested in coming to this Group.

Charity projects

Looking for some knitting to do for a good cause? Wooler Wool Shop has previously taken part in charity knitting projects and can offer you the chance to get involved. Knitted toys (from their patterns) are always required by the Naval Children's Charity for children whose parents are away on deployment with the Navy or Marines.

Knitted toys from these patterns can be handed in at the shop for sending onto the Charity.

Milk Bottle Tops - these (washed please!) can be handed in at the shop. They are recycled into cable insulation for submarine communication cables and the funds raised by doing so help support the Margaret Kerr Unit at Borders General Hospital. Plastic bottle tops that have a 2 or 4 within the recycle triangle can be used.

These projects help us to give back to those that need it, and are rewarding to support as a small business.

OUTREACH SERVICE

Outreach Optician's Service - Thompson Opticians (Alnwick) regularly offer eye tests and spectacles in Wooler. Appointments can be made at Wooler Wool Shop. Spectacle repairs are also offered at Wooler Wool Shop.
